Creating The Plant Protector
Shortly after leaving a job I did not like, I decided to take my first ever career hiatus. But what should I do? I was sitting in the garden, looking at the plants and thinking about the last two decades of cerebral-intense work in academia and the world of start-ups. Just resting is not really an option for me, it must involve creating something new.
In between the plants, I spotted one of my old invention, The Protector, which had faithfully protected my veggies and flowers for several years.
I designed the Plant Protector during Covid, after a massive defecation cat-attack, which left me hopeless.
I tried all available products.
Some were eye-soaring and blocked the plants from growing, some blew my ears (*Yes, ultrasound devices are incredible painful for those who can hear it, and apparently that includes me). In short, none worked.
So I created my own solution: a plastic-, chemical- & electronic-free product that is effective and does not harm animals in any way.
Then, I carried on with my life (and gardening).
In the past few months, we improved the original Protector, created a manufacturing procedure, and had fun building the website and working with super creating individuals.
Creating a new product and trying to see if others will enjoy it too is exhilarating and fulfilling!
But that was not all!
We decided to use this newly created business to promote our values!
We care about the environment and our community and decided to work toward becoming a B Corp and Carbon Negative. And all our profits are dedicated to Rewilding and Wild birds’ protection projects in the area.
Lastly, the Protector is made entirely of bamboo, and the packaging is completely compostable!
